Country music has a long history in Canada, from the East to West Coast. This list features five artists from our beautiful East Coast.
#1 George Canyon
George Canyon, from Nova Scotia, is a multi-award winner in the country music industry. He has been in the public eye for many years now. With that Western movie look that he’s got, George starred in season two of the American program “Nashville Star”. His deep and rich tones grace our ears once again in his new single “Vinyl”.
#2 Mike McKenna Jr
Mike McKenna Jr is a singer-songwriter from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. His soulful tones and seafaring-themed songs have captured the attention of many Montreal listeners. He often writes about heartbreak and sea voyages which is a fresh breath of air among today’s music. His latest indie-folk album is titled “Pacific Northwest Bound” and it is the perfect vibe for a chill afternoon with friends.
#3 Dave Sampson
Halifax-native Dave Sampson is a folk and pop singer-songwriter. His authentic and rich voice is definitely outstanding and well expressed in his catchy tunes. He has shared the stage with many known artists such as Alan Doyle and Donovan Woods. His song writing skills are full on display in his new EP album “All Type Of Ways”.
#4 Pretty Archie
Pretty Archie is an all-male band originally from Nova Scotia with a genre of some bluegrass, folk, country and vintage soul. These life-long friends are always full of high-energy songs that display their east-coast roots. Their 2019 album “Hanging On” that showcases their love for the road will leave you wanting for more.
#5 Port Cities
Port Cities, known for their hit single “Montreal”, is a soulful/pop trio from Nova Scotia. Combining their song writing skills, these diverse backgrounds have created a unique dynamic that leaves you hanging. These guys blow our minds whether it’s a full band or just raw acoustics.
