After having the first single (‘Drive Me Away’) by a solo female Canadian artist to enter the top five at country radio since Terri Clark’s ‘In My Next Life’ in 2008, Jess Moskaluke has most certainly earned a place as one of the top female Canadian country artists.
TC: What was your first reaction when you found out you were nominated for Female Artist of the Year?
JM: The first time I was nominated, it was a huge shock and obviously super exciting, it’s super exciting every single time. It’s still a little bit shocking every time too because it’s a dream. It was amazing to find out that we’ve been nominated again this year.
TC: Who is your go to band or artist when you can’t decide on something to listen to?
JM: Maren Morris is always a really great choice. I love a lot of her stuff. Other than that, I would just find a playlist to stream.
TC: What’s something you’ve been meaning to try but just haven’t gotten around to it?
JM: Surfing. It’s kind of a thing I’ve been putting off because my boyfriend and I go to Maui every year, I think I’ve gone five times now and I always say surfing looks really fun or paddle boarding. I get frustrated easily when things don’t work out so I think that’s why I haven’t tried because I know I’m going to suck, but I do want to try it.
TC: What’s your favourite thing to do when you have time off?
JM: I love to sleep in, take bubble baths, have people at the house and just hang out. It’s so busy on the road that when I have time off I really love to just be a home body and turn it off and spend time alone. I’m a really boring person at home.
TC: If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what rule would you make?
JM: I would make it a rule that everyone had to be a little bit more accepting of people’s choices and situations. I mean that technically is a rule but people don’t always follow it.
