Top Country was lucky enough to get the chance to interview up-and-coming country star Joel Crouse last month while he was in Canada for the RED Tour with Taylor Swift. Read the interview below to learn what the best part about touring with Taylor is and what Joel wants his Canadian fans to know about him.

You will tour Canada as a part of the Taylor Swift RED Tour this summer. We see on your website that your personal motto is “always be yourself”. What do you want fans up here to know about you?
A
That I love music, and that’s the heart and soul of what I do what I do. Oh yea, and it’s fun.

What’s the best part about touring with Taylor?
A
Having the opportunity to learn firsthand from one of the greats in the business right now.

What are you most looking forward to about being up here in Canada? Have you ever been?
A
My first time here was on the RED tour. I’m looking forward to visiting all of the cities and gaining new fans along the way.

What is your most memorable moment to date in your career?
A
My debut at the Grand Ole Opry was by far the most spiritual/emotional experience I have had with music to date.

Favourite song you’ve written so far? What’s the story behind it?
A
“Ruby Puts Her Red Dress On”. The story behind it is about losing someone you love. A lot of people take it as a song about someone who has passed away, but also it can be left open for interpretation. In the song, a girl Ruby puts her red dress on to remember the one she lost.

- The album that you can’t stop listening to? Fleetwood Mac – “Rumours”. It’s something that can always be on, and I never get sick of it.
- The one thing you can’t leave the house without? My cell phone and headphones.
- Song you wish you wrote? “One of These Nights” by the Eagles.

- The television show you can’t get enough of? Family Guy or South Park
