Gord Bamford has been nominated for this award numerous times, but has yet to come out on top. Will it happen for him in 2012? That’s up to you! With hits like ‘Blame It On That Red Dress’, ‘I Would For You, ‘Day Job’, and ‘Is It Friday Yet’, its safe to say that Gord is a fan favourite right across Canada. He’s even a favourite when it comes to his peers. TC caught up with Hey Romeo, a fellow Fan’s Choice nominee who toured with Bamford this past spring.
Rob Shapiro of Hey Romeo tells us, “I guess if it wasn’t for Gord we wouldn’t have met, Darren and I were in his band when he released his first record God’s Green Earth and Stacie showed up at the Leduc Rodeo where we were playing with Gord. He invited her up to sing a couple of songs, it went pretty well and that was the beginning of Hey Romeo. Gord gave us his blessing to go start our own thing. Three albums later, here we are. He introduced us to our producer Byron Hill, as well he has taken us across Canada this past spring to launch both of our new albums. Gord also invited us to be a part of a Charitable Foundation Invitational Golf Tournament, which he hosted in Lacombe, AB in August. There, he raised over $270,000 this year and over one million dollars over the past 5 years.”
