Relationships can be difficult but they can also turn out to be one of the most fulfilling experiences a person can be a part of. As with anything in life, growing up gives you new perspectives on dating. Seeking relationship advice is something everyone does at one point or another.
Country music is chock-full of songs about love and heartbreak. We can often find relationship advice by just listening to our favourite songs! The Worst Kind is Tim Hicks’ second single of off New Tattoo. It tells the story of a post-breakup experience and features Lindsay Ell who adds in amazing vocals and stunning guitar work. It is definitely a great track to crank up if you’re going through a breakup!
Tim Hicks and Lindsay Ell recently sat down to talk about what relationship advice they would give their younger selves. Whether it’s trusting your instinct or having more confidence, you’ll definitely want to check out their conversation below!
Tim Hicks: “If you could go back in time, what would you tell your younger self about dating?”
Lindsay Ell: “If I could tell my younger self something about dating, I’d say trust your gut more. Those little instincts at the beginning of a relationship that are either really good things or red flags; there’s so much honesty in those feelings. Sometimes if you can listen to that voice inside of you that says “this is not a good thing to do” or “this is a great thing to do” it’s usually right. I’d say 9 times out of 10 that voice is right. You’re married, so if you could go back and tell your 20-year old self a piece of advice, what would it be?”
Tim Hicks: “Oh God my 20-year old self… Just own it! I was not a confident young man unless I was singing so that was my, for lack of a better term, that was like my super power. I could get up and sing but around girls I was always like a bumbling idiot! I wish I could go back and just be a little more confident and be a little bit more honest.”
