Trinity Bradshaw released her new EP Open Skies on June 17, 2014 and Top Country got the chance to chat with all about it! Check out our interview with Trinity below, and scroll down to see where you can catch her playing this summer!
TC: Can you tell us a bit about your new EP Open Skies?
TB: With a mix of upbeat fun and songs from the heart, Open Skies will for sure have you dancin’. If you’re not a dancer, foot tappin’ works too! I’m super excited for this release!
TC: How would you say it compares to your previous EP?
TB: During my first EP’s writing process, I wrote most of the songs while still trying to find myself as an artist and really tap into my sound. The first release had a lot of inspiring songs and a softer sound. Since then, I have grown so much as an artist and I have finally found the sound that represents “Trinity Bradshaw”.
TC: What was the songwriting process for this EP like?
TB:I have had the chance to sit down with a few incredible writers and we just connected so well. Trey Mills and Russ Broom co-wrote most of this EP. The three of us had so many ideas passed around and our intentions seemed to be the same – “let’s have some fun!”
TC: What’s a song on this EP that you are particularly proud of and why?
TB: “Never Drinkin’ Again” was co-written with Trey Mills and Russ Broom, and is one of my all time favourite songs that I have ever written. We wrote this song while driving on the dirt roads of Alberta during a radio tour last year. I was foot stompin’ the entire car ride while singing out the lyrics, so glad this song is my current single at the moment!
TC: 2014 is only halfway through, but what would you say has been the most memorable moment this year for you?
TB: So far, I would say the preparation of this EP was pretty darn exciting – choosing which songs and also the artwork. Visiting Nashville and writing a bunch more songs was a great moment too! I’m super stoked for the rest of this year, I have a good feeling about 2014!
TC’s FUN 5
1. Favourite book? Right now I am reading Shania Twain’s “From This Moment On” , it’s so good! I do love a good murder mystery too.
2. Can’t stop listening to: The radio. I love the radio. (Country radio mostly).
3. Favourite TV show? Orange Is The New Black, at the moment. That will change when the Walking Dead premiers later this year though!
