GET TO KNOW: Hunter Brothers – Shaunavon, SK
Song Featured on the Top Country Discovery Playlist: Getaway
The Hunter Brothers are making waves with their new single, Getaway. The catchy song is the perfect tune to get you through the ups and downs of winter in Canada. Ty Hunter (lead singer of Hunter Brothers) gave us the lowdown on their new single and journey as artists so far.
TC: Did you write your new single, ‘Getaway’?
Ty From Hunter Brothers: When we wrote Getaway, we were privileged to join forces with our producers, Seth Mosely and Brad Rempel of High Valley. Getaway came from the idea of being stuck up in Canadian winters under 3 feet of snow, and the presence of the one you love being your vacation spot. Even though it sounds like a song for the Summertime, it was originally written lyrically in the context of winter. As many know, the Canadian winters can be long and miserable, so hopefully this song will be enjoyed year round!
TC: Do you have a favourite vacation spot?
Ty From Hunter Brothers: Some of our favourite getaways have included family ski vacations in the mountains of Montana, and body surfing in the waves of the Dominican Republic. A few of us spent Christmas in Hawaii one year, which was a memorable and strange experience, particularly because there was no snow on the ground. I (Ty) had the privilege of taking a trip to Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia where I ate food off a banana leaf, rode on the back of an elephant, and suntanned by packs of monkeys!
TC: What is your favourite moment of your career so far?
Ty From Hunter Brothers: A few of our favourite career moments up to this point have included playing at a sold out Nashville Predators game, recording in the legendary Blackbird Studio, singing the anthems at NHL games, and recording our official music video for Getaway. We grew up playing a lot of hockey, so when we have the opportunity to sing at games, we feel right at home.
TC: Your dreams would come true if…
Ty From Hunter Brothers: One of our dreams has been to revisit all the hockey arenas that we used to play in, only this time on a headlining tour with instruments in our hands instead of skates on our feet.
TC: What is your favourite thing about being an artist?
Ty From Hunter Brothers: There are so many incredible things about being an artist. To name a few of them, we thoroughly enjoy meeting people from all over the world and hearing their stories, the creative process, writing, recording and then hearing songs sung back to you at your concerts. Probably the most rewarding are the moments when you have the opportunity to hear about how your music has impacted people’s lives.
